The Bible House Project

The construction of The Bible House, the new headquarters for the Bangladesh Bible Society, is a significant initiative that will not only serve as the central hub for the printing and distribution of Bibles across Bangladesh, but also expand the blessings of God by supporting various societal welfare programs. These initiatives will specifically benefit underprivileged communities, furthering the Society’s commitment to uplifting the nation. While the project has encountered initial challenges, including political interference and community-related disruptions, the construction process has been progressing smoothly since its commencement on January 9, 2025.

Brief information
1.1 The Bangladesh Bible Society (BBS) prayerfully decided to build a new 10 (ten) storied with single Basement building named Bible House. The BBS will observe the Diamond Jubilee (1953-2028) on 16 February 2028, when the Bible House will be dedicated.
1.2 The BBS has a land of 32 decimals, with a brick foundation two-storied building. The building is almost 72 years old and in unusable condition. The engineering firm suggested demolishing and constructing a new building to save from all kinds of risks.
1.3 The BBS Board Chairman, Board members, Denomination leaders, Church members, different organizations and institutions encourage reconstructing the Bible House. They have been committing to donate personally as well as institutionally.

Importance of BIBLE HOUSE
Bangladesh is a South Asian country of 180 millions people where 91% are Moderate Muslims. There are four major religions – Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Christianity. Islam is the state religion of Bangladesh. Since 1953, The BBS has been successfully operating in Bangladesh to meet the needs of the Bible in the churches of Bangladesh. After the liberation war of 1971, BBS started producing whole Bibles/Scriptures/New Testaments not only in Bangla Language but also in different ethnic languages, targeting 44 ethnic languages so that every Christian can have his/her Bible in their heart language. Besides, BBS wants to ensure that il-literate and ethnic children can also learn the living Word of God, in their language, through the Pre-primary language school. BBS translates Scriptures into their heart language and also wants to distribute/sell meaningfully. That’s why we organize different kinds of programs with the local church’s hostels and for people in different professions like – Pastors, Church leaders, Youth, Children, doctors/nurses and media workers etc. Through these programs, BBS wants to encourage adults, young people, and children by the Word of God. We desire to build up our young generation as future good Christian leaders for our society through the BIBLE where Bible House would be the spiritual powerhouse.
